With Easter soon upon us, it is the perfect time to stock up on everything chocolate, cosy up in front of the TV and watch an Easter-related movie with our loved ones. Easter films may not be as widely advertised as Christmas movies, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t just as good. Here, we’ll show you our selection of Easter movies that can be enjoyed during the holidays without moving from your front room.
Hop (2011)
A perfect film for all the family, and one we think that children will especially love. Hop is an animated comedy that tells the story of young rabbit E.B, who is the son of the Easter Bunny. Destined to take over his father’s role, E.B has bigger aspirations of becoming a famous rock star, and therefore escapes to Hollywood to follow his dream. With Russell Brand providing the voice for E.B, and Hasselhoff making a cameo as…Hasselhoff, there is guaranteed to be laughs for everyone.
The Passion of the Christ (2004)
Arguably not a film for everyone, this epic biblical drama directed and written by Mel Gibson is surely worth a watch during the Easter weekend. The film takes us through the last 12 hours of Jesus’ life, in which every aspect of his lifetime, including his crucifixion, is depicted in graphic detail. We highly recommend that this is best watched without the children present, due to the film being entirely filmed in Aramaic and Latin with subtitles provided, and it also contains unsuitable content such as violent scenes. This is not one for the faint hearted.
It’s the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown (1974)
Okay, so this isn’t quite a movie, but it wouldn’t be a list about things to watch at Easter without including this ever popular animated TV comedy. This Easter special follows the Peanuts guys as they get prepared for Easter in their own way. This is one that has remained popular throughout the years, and we recommend settling down in front of the TV with your chocolate eggs and enjoying this comedy.
