You’ve Got Mail
You’ve Got Mail is another Meg Ryan romantic classic – and we love it! It’s about two business rivals who can’t stand the sight of each other in person but end up falling in love over the internet. When he finds out who she is, he must convince her that he’s the one for her, despite her hating him in real life.
The film leaves you with that feeling that something romantic could happen in the autumn, that something new and exciting could begin.
What makes this film an autumn must watch? Well, Tom Hanks asks his online love ““Don’t you just love New York in the fall? It makes me want to buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address.” Aw romantic! We all want newly sharpened pencils in the autumn.
When Harry Met Sally
When Harry Met Sally is a film that sets to answer the age old question of whether men and women can really just be friends. Harry and Sally have been friends for years, and fear that anything else could and would ruin their good friendship.
Considered as being one of the greatest romantic movies of all time, When Harry Met Sally has scenes throughout all of the four seasons. However, a lot of our personal favourite scenes taken place in autumn. Depicting New York City in the autumn season, Harry and Sally are seen taking a walk through the city, with a sea of orange and yellow everywhere they turn. The prettiness of the colourful leaves definitely makes us want to put on our warm clothes and go for a brisk walk!
Halloween
We never said that that all autumn films should be romantic. In fact, one of the most exciting parts of the season is Halloween! And let’s be honest, it wouldn’t be Halloween without watching the scary movie that set the bar for all the other slasher/horror Halloween films – Halloween.
This is the first film in the franchise, and depicts 6 year old Michael Myers in a fictional Midwestern town. Dressed up as a clown on Halloween night, he murders his older sister. He escapes from a psychiatric hospital 15 years later, and returns home to terrorise a group of high school students.
We suggest you watch this one with a friend – it’s pretty creepy.
