Christmas is almost here, and will be bringing with it a variety of festive films and TV shows that are perfect for getting yourself in the holiday spirit. So, here we give our roundup of what to watch this Christmas…
A Classic Christmas film
No Christmas can be complete without watching a festive film or two, and there really is nothing better for giving yourself that festive feeling. Whilst there are an almost endless number of Christmas films out there for you to indulge in, you just cannot beat the old 1946 classic It’s A Wonderful a Life as the ultimate Christmas movie. Its old fashioned charm and sentimentality is perfect for giving you a bit of festive cheer, and also rekindling your faith in the magic of Christmas.
A Not So Festive Film
Whilst Christmas movies are great, the festive TV schedules are also filled with a variety of other alternative films too, and they can make for a great watch during the holiday season, especially if Santa and sleigh bells aren’t really your thing. For example, there are a number of free-to-air films that you can enjoy, including the latest Bond epic Skyfall, which will be showing at 8pm on ITV this Christmas Eve.
A Christmas Special
Many of our favourite TV series will also be screening Christmas specials over the festive period. For example, the much anticipated feature-length episode of the nation’s favourite period drama, Downton Abbey, will be shown at 9pm on ITV on Christmas Day, and is set to be a drama filled and heart-warming treat. Another family favourite, Dr Who, will also be showing its Christmas special at 9pm on BBC 1 on Christmas Day. Early indications suggest that this year’s episode is set to be one of the best Dr Who specials ever!
A Great Comedy
There’s nothing like a good comedy show for bringing a little extra festive cheer to the proceedings. This year’s festive TV schedules have a wealth of comic treats in store for TV viewers, including a festive edition of the hugely popular show Mrs Brown’s Boys, which will be shown on Christmas Day at 10.05pm on BBC1.
