In Bruges
We think this is one of Colin Farrell’s finest films ever. In Bruges is a film about two Irish assassins hiding out in the somewhat ‘boring’ European city. This dark comedy follows the crimes that are haunting them, whilst showing off the beauty of the Flemish architecture. This is a must see, especially if you are a fan of Four Lions or any black comedies.
Submarine
Oliver Tate, the lead character in this film, can only be described as awkward, in a lovable way. As is the whole film, but that’s what makes it as amazing as it is. Submarine is a comedy that is realistic for teenagers; it makes sense and doesn’t make everybody look gorgeous all of the time. It’s funny, sad, touching and dark.
Also, this film features a fantastic, heartfelt sound track from the Arctic Monkeys front man, Alex Turner, and an EP was released under the same name.
Mud
A thriller starring Matthew McConaughey, in which his performance received more praise than Dallas Buyers Club, Interstellar, or True Detective…what more do you want from a film? The story of two boys who find a boat, and Mud, will keep you gripped on the edge of your seat. Trust us, watch it.
