Angelina Jolie… And Cameron Diaz
A double hitter in at number five. And man, these ladies couldn’t be more different. In the red corner, the professional pouter and global do-gooder, Angelina Jolie (who will, some day, be known only by her first name). In the blue corner, Cameron Diaz duking it out for blondes everywhere. Star turns in Hollywood com Sex Tape and The Other Woman bolstered Diaz’s bank balance. Maleficent brought in the mega-bucks for Jolie. How much did they earn? $18 million!
Gwyneth Paltrow
Ol’ Gwyneth has been around for years now. Not that you’d know it, she looks just the way she did when she made her name in 1995’s Seven. And 2014 proved pretty bountiful for Gwyneth. Although she didn’t make tons of movies in 2014 – besides a couple of stints on TV shows Web Therapy and Glee – her paycheque for Iron Man 3 helped bump up her paycheque to a hefty $19 million.
Jennifer Aniston
Former Friend, Aniston has carved out a pretty good line for herself as an all-round girl next door. Relatable, ravishing, and, y’know, real. No surprise, then, that the star of We’re the Millers kept her bank manager happy in 2014, after netting almost twice as much as the woman she lost Brad Pitt to. Suddenly Angelina’s $18 million looks like a pittance compared to Aniston’s awesome $31 million.
Jennifer Lawrence
You could probably argue, pretty unconvincingly, that Lawrence is Aniston’s one true heir. In fact, she’s probably even more genuine than even Aniston! The down-to-earth Kentucky lass made her name in X-Men: First Class, and went on to wow teens in The Hunger Games. In between the super-hits came roles with frequent collaborator – and minted male star – Bradley Cooper, in American Hustle, Silver Linings Playbook and Serena. All that netted Miss Lawrence a colossal $34 million.
Sandra Bullock
When it comes to lovely leading ladies who have both Hollywood looks and serious talent, the award has to go to Sandra Bullock. Or ‘Ms Bullock’, as her dentist calls her. She’s been a movie staple since before CGI was in every single film, so we’re pretty pleased to see her topping the list of highest paid actresses in 2014. Her Oscar-nominated stint in Gravity certainly helped pad out her paycheque. The beautiful Bullock made – those of a nervous disposition should take a seat – $51 million.
