Christmas is best known for being the season of traditions, and whether it’s opening your presents as soon as you wake up or hitting those Boxing Day sales at 5am, it’s these traditions that make the festive season that little bit more special.
It’s also a well known fact that TV plays a huge part of Christmas, with many shows hosting their own Christmas special episodes and there are more festive films being shown on our telly boxes to know which one to watch- we simply can’t choose between Die Hard and Home Alone!
So, what are our favourite Christmas Telly traditions that get us in the festive mood when we switch on our cheap 3D TVs?
The Festive Movies
As we mentioned above, we just love to snuggle up on the couch and flick through the plethora of Christmas movies that adorn every TV channel.
There’s no better feeling than resting up in front of the TV on Christmas day having just devoured more food than you thought was humanly possible, to enjoy the movies that only seem to appear during the festive period- with the exception of Die Hard which seems to pop up intermittently during the year… not that we’re complaining!
The great thing about the majority of Christmas films is that they can be fun for all the family, too- perfect for the season where getting together with your family is a prominent feature!
Top of the Pops
We’d be lying if we didn’t say that we always look forward to flicking the channel over to catch a glimpse of some of the biggest music successes of the past year. Music is everywhere we go and no matter how hard we try, some tunes are just too catchy not to sing along to.
It’s also a great way to add some background noise while you tuck in to your Christmas dinner or begin ripping open that wrapping paper!
Cookery Programmes Galore
Many people probably don’t want to look at another brussel sprout for another year after eating Christmas dinner, but we can’t get enough of the Christmas cookery shows!
We love getting inspiration for next year’s dinner by watching as many cookery shows as we can get our eyes on! Maybe you’ve already thought that you’re going to ditch the turkey next year, but don’t have a clue what to replace it with- take a handful of the many opportunities to get some inspiration a year in advance!
The New Year in London
If you’d rather spend your New Years Eve celebrating at home with your loved ones, you don’t have to feel like you’re missing out on the party!
The firework display in London is always televised as the clock strikes midnight, so you can sit back, relax and watch the phenomenal display from the comfort of your own home!
