The month of June means that we are officially half way through 2015 – and there has already been 6 months of brilliant and memorable new movies. Of course there has also been a few duds along the way, but we prefer to talk about the ones that we really enjoyed!
From highly anticipated sequels, to brilliant book adaption’s, to big exciting blockbusters – 2015 has already had them all!
Do you have a favourite film from this year? Read on for just a selection of our favourites, and believe us – it was extremely hard to choose!
Mad Max: Fury Road (15th May 2015)
Mad Max: Fury Road is the 4th instalment in the Mad Max franchise, and was the first one in released in 30 years. Released worldwide on the 15th May this year, it quickly became a big hit with people all around the world – even those who had never seen the previous films.
The film recast Tom Hardy in the role of Max, and Charlize Theron did an amazing job in the role of Furiosa – a woman desperate to make it across the desert and back to her home town. The film depicts them as two survivors, who may be the only people able to restore order in an apocalyptic world.
The film received a lot of praise, although some people claimed that it sometimes felt like a silent movie at times, due to the lack of dialogue. What lacked in speech was certainly made up for in action and brilliant stunts – and we’re not sure that a film that loud could ever be mistaken for a silent film. We think that Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron did a wonderful job – and it’s well worth another watch!
American Sniper (16th January 2015)
American Sniper is an American war film that is based on a book written by a former US Navy Seal sniper.
Bradley Cooper plays Chris Kyle, a U.S Navy Seal sniper who returns home to his wife and child after many months at war. He is unable to leave the horrors of the war behind, and struggles to fit back in with his family. After returning from a second and then third tour, his wife is upset when he decides to go for a fourth.
The film is incredibly moving, made extra emotional by being based on a real life story. Sienna Miller is wonderful as a confused and grief stricken wife, who desperately wants to connect with her husband.
The film got positive reviews around the world, with even First Lady Michelle Obama speaking out in support of the film.
We thought it was touching and well acted, it’s definitely one to watch out for when it’s released on DVD.
Considering what 2015 has already brought us in the movie world, it’s fair to say that we are extremely excited for the next 6 months! Our calendar is already started to fill up in anticipation of all the upcoming films.
