2017 has been another fantastic year for the film industry. We’ve seen the success of blockbusters such as Wonder Woman and Beauty and the Beast, but it has also been a great year for all of the book lovers out there! There has been a large amount of book adaptations that have hit the big screens this year, such as The Dark Tower and The Zookeeper’s Wife.
And since it’s only August, there are still many great book adaptations waiting to hit our screens. Here are six adaptations still to be released in 2017 that we are very excited about.

Release date: 8th September 2017
Starring: Bill Skarsgard, Finn Wolfhard, Jaeden Lieberher.
This thriller remake of the Stephen King novel centres around seven adults who return to their hometown to confront a nightmare they had as teenagers. An evil with the name It. Can you imagine being confronted with your biggest fear? These adults are about to find out.
Victoria and Abdul
Release date: 22nd September 2017
Starring: Judi Dench, Ali Fazal, Eddie Izzard.
This adaptation of the book of the same name tells the real-life story of Abdul Karim, who became a clerk for Queen Victoria at the age of 24, and the relationship that ensued between the two.
The Snowman
Release date: 13th October 2017
Starring: Michael Fassbender, Rebecca Ferguson, Val Kilmer.
This thrilling horror is an adaptation of the book of the same name. It centres around an elite crime squads lead detective who investigates the disappearance of a woman after her pink scarf is found wrapped around a devious looking snowman. Fearing the serial killer will strike again, he must outwit the evil.
The Mountain Between Us
Release date: 20th October 2017
Starring: Kate Winslet, Idris Elba, Dermot Mulroney.
This romance-disaster film is based on the novel of the same name. The film centres around two strangers who are stranded on a mountain after a tragic plane crash, who must work together to survive in the extreme weather. Realising help isn’t coming, and injured, they must use their inner strength to embark on a journey through hundreds of miles of wilderness.
Same Kind of Different As Me
Release date: 20th October 2017
Starring: Renee Zellweger, Jon Voight, Greg Kinnear, Djimon Hounsou.
The full name of the book this film is adapted from is Same Kind of Different As Me: A Modern-Day Slave, an International Art Dealer, and the Unlikely Woman Who Bound Them Together. The title says the premise of the film for you, the film shows the development of a personal friendship between two men of very different upbringings, and the struggles they face to keep the friendship, and how it saved a struggling marriage.
Murder on the Orient Express
Release date: 22nd November 2017
Starring: Johnny Depp, Daisy Ridley, Penelope Cruz, Josh Gad.
This film is the fourth adaptation of Agatha Christies novel of the same name, filled with a star-studded cast. A snowstorm stops the Orient Express in the middle of Yugoslavia. As you can guess, a murder takes place, and Hercule Poirot must work on the most astounding case of his career to find the murderer.
