Apple TV: The Future of Television?

At Cheap TVs we are working within an industry that is constantly being shook up and revolutionised. Not long ago, the idea of cheap 3D TVs would have been scoffed at, but through the constant improvements and updates, as well as commitments and competition between some of the industry’s giants, television technology is coming on leaps and bounds.

Step Up… Apple

For example, yesterday saw the announcement of Apple’s new fourth generation TV set-top box. In order to compete with other similar products created in the last few years, such as Google and Amazon’s efforts, Apple have had to stretch the game out in order to stand head and i-shoulders above the rest, as they continually strive to do.

Their latest box features a touch sensitive remote control, complete with accelerometer and gyroscope to make gaming more interactive and engrossing, as well as allowing for greater general interaction with the Apple TV. Additionally, not only have they included a new processor, they have integrated Apple’s digital assistant Siri, which means that the user can now use voice commands to interact with their television! Pretty handy… Well, not handy… mouthy? You know what we mean.

More Powerful Operating System

The operating system involved in the latest generation of Apple TV is significantly more powerful than any of their formal models, boasting a 64-bit A8 processor and a flash new operating system, tvOS. Not only that, the Apple TV will also have access to apps, meaning that any third party developers can create apps and games specifically for the Apple TV which, in turn, will be made available via their App Store.

Also announced at the Californian event was the unveiling of a range of other Apple products. These included new generations of existing iProducts, such as iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus as well as the iPad Pro, showing Apple are well and truly committed to taking on any competitors that dare to stand in their way!
