Summer Blockbusters: Gaming Edition Top 5

We’ve all played a game or two in our free time, from the casual phone tappers deleting line after line in Candy Crush to the hardcore PC gamers with computers that rival NASA in processing power. Their addictive nature, ever improving graphics and engaging storytelling is making video games an ever popular pastime. So, here is a sample of our top picks of titles coming this gaming season.

Dark Souls III

Our first anticipated release for the summer season of gaming comes in the form of Dark Souls III. Brutal, frustrating, prone to making grown men cry – this isn’t a series for the casual gamer. The story is steeped in mystery, the bosses wipe the floor with you and yet Dark Souls has loyal fans coming back for more each time. Get ready be terribly frustrated this April 12th.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

The ominously named fourth title in Naughty Dog’s Uncharted series is another top game coming his season. Some fear this means the demise of protagonist Nathan Drake, sometime hero and full time thief, in the final title of this epic series. This first-person shooter hits all the right spots for fans of adventurous rascals and the exploration of ancient tombs. So, if you like games like Tomb Raider then on May 10th this is a winner for you.

Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst

The upcoming reboot/sequel to 2007’s Mirror’s Edge is the origin story of series protagonist Faith and her fight to overthrow the totalitarian regime ruling the city of Glass. Sounds heavy, but this free running plat former puts a lot of other titles with similar climbing mechanics to shame (looking at you Assassin’s Creed). So, if urban free running using a plethora of routes is just your cup of tea, pick this up on May 26th.

No Man’s Sky

Ever wanted to explore space? How about eighteen quintillion planets worth of space? That’s just what you get in this adventure survival title, an open universe with beautiful graphics and a never ending stream of exploration. Your mission into space launches June 24th.

Final Fantasy XV

Okay, so technically this one isn’t a summer release coming September 30th. But, the recent reveal of Final Fantasy XV’s story trailer has the internet practically frothing at the mouth. Those graphics, the swell of music, that flying car! Could this be the game that brings Square Enix’s series back to the heights of Final Fantasy VII? Maybe, maybe not, but we’re guaranteed it will look great on our TVs either way.

The graphics in these titles certainly suggest the future of gaming is looking bright much like the future of TVs. So, get in touch with our team about the best cheap TV’s to play these awesome titles on and start your gaming season the right way this summer.
