Last December every Star Wars fan got their favourite present… the seventh episode of this mythical saga. Star Wars: the Force Awakens has been a real hit that old and new fans have enjoyed equally. This past 4th of May was international Star Wars Day (May the Fourth be with you!) and the good news is that you can keep celebrating, because this December also comes with a present!
When George Lucas launched the first Star Wars film back in 1977, he created not only a saga but a cast of unforgettable characters such as Darth Vader, Yoda and R2-D2, as well as settings like the Death Star and the Dune Sea. Rogue One is the first film that will take advantage of all this to create a parallel story set in the Star Wars universe.

- Do You Miss Darth Vader?
Yes, he’s not the father you would want but nobody can deny he is one of the best villains ever created. That is probably the reason why he has been physically present in all the episodes of the saga but the most recent one. And even then, we are sure that you missed him.
However, Rogue One might bring us more Darth Vader! It seems that what many fans claim is not the truth, though – that dark figure in the trailer is not Darth Vader. But the fact is that his theme song can be heard at the end of the trailer, which seems to suggest he’ll have an important role in this new film.
- A More Realistic World!
The first episodes of Star Wars shaped our childhood and teenage years but, let’s be honest, didn’t you miss a bit of diversity among so many white male characters? Luckily, things changed for the better in the last movie, where Rey and Finn are the protagonists. Rogue One wants to follow this trend with another female protagonist, played by the actress Felicity Jones. And when we see the trailer, diversity seems to be the (new) norm. Great news for all!
- A Peek at the Dark Side
In this trailer the Emperor’s guard (white stormtroopers) are all over the place. This could mean that finally we’re getting a film that explores the ‘dark side’ properly. It will make an interesting contrast with the other films as well as showing us the Star Wars universe from the bad guy’s perspective. Are you not curious?
- Where Is The Force?
Something probably every true fan of the Star Wars saga has noticed is that, in this trailer, there is not a single lightsaber. Does it mean that none of the characters in this story can use the Force? What will happen then if Darth Vader appears? Rogue One is bringing many interesting new twists!
We’re sure you’re dying to watch this new movie. You could go to the cinema in December, of course, but then you wouldn’t be able to comment on the scenes with your friends, and that’s already half of the fun!
