With the release of the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X that support HDR and 4K, it means no excuse for not upgrading your TV to match these powerful consoles in 2018. When looking for a TV to hook up to your new consoles this year, there are a few things to take into consideration such as “Does it support 4K?”. After all, you want your gaming to be top-notch quality!
The PS4 pro outputs at 4K by using a variety of upscaling and in-game enhancements, however, the Xbox One X outputs an impressive native 4K due to the impressive power of the console. Which one will you decide on for 2018?
Input lag is also a big issue for serious gamers who want a responsive TV to match their fast-paced games. Basically, this is how long it takes the TV to project on the screen what your console is inputting. Make sure your new TV tech has the best quality possible for the ultimate gaming experience.
Finally, sound can be quite important for when you aren’t wearing a headset or have a surround sound set-up. It seems that built-in sound bars are taking the forefront in tech and offering crisp sound with a deep bass. If you aren’t splashing out on a sound bar, look out for TV’s with top of the range sound this year. This could be vital to an immersive gaming experience.

With several products on the market already using voice operation such as Sky Q, Amazon Echo and Siri, it was only a matter of time before TV’s integrated this new tech. 2018 seems like the year that voice operation is coming into the spotlight for Smart TVs and we are certainly excited about this.
LG have announced their Google assistant Thin Q TV which allows the user to operate a range of things; from raising or lowering the volume to changing channels. As it uses the google technology you will also be able to control other Google products such as smart lights and smart plugs. This means that you won’t ever lose your remote again!

The 4K generation has only just begun, with homeowners upgrading their Ultra HD TVs for the brand new 4K screens. However, developers are already teasing at a possibility of 8K screens being available in your household.
This would be a massive upgrade from the 3840 x 2160 which 4K currently uses, to the 7680 x 4320 which 8K boasts. However, it has been proven that the transition of resolutions isn’t an exactly quick one. Streaming sites such as Netflix and Amazon Prime have a small percentage of their movies available in 4K and it would take a lot more time for them to fully transition; that’s without the introduction of 8K.
But that’s not to mean you shouldn’t look to upgrade in the future to maximise your viewing experience (especially to watch those great Golden Globe winners). Are we just impatient?
